London Fashion Week is underway, and Twenty8Twelve’s new collection was previewed over the past weekend. Unfortunately neither Sienna nor Savannah were in attendance … I was hoping they would be, for the final time! I thought I’d post a couple of articles about the new collections launch though, as there are obviously mentions of the brand’s changes.

Check out T8T London’s newly redesigned website, too.

Twenty8Twelve Fall 2012: Keeping Calm and Carrying On, Miller-less

Twenty8Twelve’s head designer, Elsa Elphick, is probably absolutely sick of people asking her about Savannah and Sienna Miller leaving the brand. They held a presentation over the weekend to showcase the new collection and a fashion film called “Faceless Featured Future.” Faceless future, indeed–at least a famous faceless future. So let’s get that part out of the way first.

I asked Elphick what has changed since the Miller sisters left, and she told me, “For us it hasn’t massively changed.” Hmm. So how much involvement did they actually have? Elphick assured me that she worked very closely with Savannah, but that now she would be making design decisions rather than have them made for her. When I asked if the Millers leaving would hurt the image of the brand, a member of Twenty8Twelve’s team jumped in.

“I think we’ve been quite lucky because the brand’s been around long enough to establish what its personality is, and also to establish an appetite from consumers and buyers, and that’s probably the most important thing,” he said. “I think we can maintain that equilibrium as we move through this path.” He went on to say, “We’re excited because it frees us up to do more things from a business perspective, be it opening more stores, ad campaigns, digital marketing strategies. There are things we are doing now that will be different, and more bold in their statements.”

The question that no one was directly answering was why the Miller sisters left. We sensed that there’s a story there but no one’s talking yet. So let’s talk about the story we know, which is that Twenty8Twelve wants to expand. There are currently 3 freestanding stores, and they want to open one in Paris, then expand into North America.

Based on the collection and how it was designed, it’s obvious expansion is on the brain–there’s definitely enough to fill up a shop with this current collection. There were lots of different wardrobe stories: 60s London references, Capote’s Black and White Ball, statement coats, a work-friendly line. Twenty8Twelve is also trying to grow its “Made in England” initiative, too, in which a certain percentage of the line is produced in the UK using traditional English tailoring techniques.

Will Twenty8Twelve make it without the Miller sisters? They’re just fine, thank you very much.

Twenty8Twelve minus the Miller sisters at London Fashion Week AW12

Instead of the usual high profile on schedule show, where Savanna and Sienna Miller normally bring in a pap worthy front row, today the newly renamed Twenty8Twelve London displayed their Autumn Winter 2012 collection at a presentation at London Fashion Week’s Somerset House Embankment Gallery. Ever since we found out the Miller sisters have decided to step down as co-creative directors of the global brand back in January, we expected to see some changes and it appears this is the first of them.

After an eight year partnership with the well known blonde siblings, Twenty8Twelve is continuing under the same design team as ever which was clear to see. Similarly to their Spring Summer 2011 collection, Twenty8Twelve’s offering on display today was full of easy to wear casual separates with a cool laid back aesthetic. From loose sheer tops with ultra simplistic lines to even looser cropped trousers, a slick grey tweed two piece suit, loose masculine outerwear tailoring and sporty feel mini dresses with flared skater skirts – the collection on offer was one of variety, depth and ultra wear-ability.

Favorite items had to be the sheer black blouse with paneled detail, pleated black leather mini skirt, luxe masculine feel outerwear and a seriously over-sized snood. Overall, although it may feel as though Twenty8Twelve have lost their secret ingredient(s), it was clear to see the collection still has the London grit on which it has based it’s premise, but this season with a clear fresh and contemporary take. Check out the clothes in action in the video below.

- catwalkqueen.tv (watch a video with some of the collection being displayed at the site)

Added to our Gallery today are screencaptures from the 2009 documentary film The September Issue, which chronicled the making of the September issue of US Vogue magazine back in 2007. Sienna was on the cover of that issue, and the documentary shows brief footage of her photoshoot for the magazine, and the magazine staff putting together her spread. I loved seeing Sienna embrace the clothes as she walked into the Vogue offices – it was clear how much she loved them!

Sienna is working on yet another film! She has been so busy in the last year, and I know I’m really excited to see all the end results. It was reported last week that Si would be joining the cast of indie comedy A Case Of You, and mere days after that announcement, she was spotted on the set of the movie in Brooklyn, New York! She was seen shooting a scene on Friday, as well as walking around on the set with co-star Justin Long. Sienna looked very sophisticated in a pink dress and jacket, with her bump proudly on display. I guess her character must be pregnant in the film too … ?

100+ photos of the days shooting can be found in our Gallery:

W Magazine Hosts a Beauty Night

No one really knew what to expect as they entered the low-lit Park Avenue Armory on Tuesday evening. The invitation from W magazine promised “A-list stars” and a massive exhibition of images from fashion photographer Sølve Sundsbø, but the first thing guests noticed was the thick scent of something that sort of resembled sandalwood. The smell intensified when entering into the heart of the armory, leading to 50-foot screens showing Lara Stone and male model David Agbodji morphing into each other through multiple images with animal heads, branches and flowers.

“We could not find screens this large in New York, so we had them brought from Belgium,” said Stefano Tonchi, W’s editor in chief. “Everything is becoming an experience, some form of entertainment. Every fashion show is like a Broadway production now.” He said the point of the film was to show a changing face of beauty.

The imagery, shot by Sundsbø, lasted for 15 minutes and was set on repeat for three hours. The event was particularly heavy on Hollywood A-listers, including Cate Blanchett, Sienna Miller, Evan Rachel Wood, Felicity Jones and Chris Evans, thanks to Global P&G Prestige, a partner in the night’s proceedings that works with the actors on beauty brands such as SK-II, Hugo Boss, Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci.

“This is so overwhelmingly enormous, and the smell is really intense,” said Miller, revealing a burgeoning baby bump. The actress was told the scent, created specifically for the event, was supposed to smell like blood. “Nooo, is that true?” she wondered. “These fashion events can be very intense.”

Stone didn’t seem to mind. She was standing a few feet away, posing for pictures. Daphne Guinness arrived just before it all ended, missing Martha Stewart, Diane von Furstenberg, Alberta Ferretti, Joseph Altuzarra, Coco Rocha, Shalom Harlow and Julia Restoin Roitfeld.

Around 9 p.m., a smaller group headed to a celebratory dinner at The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges. Joanne Crewes, president of Global Prestige, P&G, discussed how the company’s interest in sponsoring the project was to explore “the idea of the transformation of beauty.” Not only a blurring of gender roles, a dissolution of ethnic differences and technological blending as East meets West in a newly globalized world, the show is meant to portray the changing face of beauty, in how consumers portray themselves and what influences they look to.

With her pale skin, Blanchett looked the part of a roving ambassador for P&G’s SK-II high-tech skin care line. When complimented on her youthful looks, she smiled and replied, “I only come out after 8.” Her latest theater project was to appear in “Gross und Klein” (“Big and Small”), a play by Botho Strauss, which her Sydney Theatre Co. is taking on the road to Paris, London and Germany after its opening at home to strong reviews.

Jones, a new face of Dolce & Gabbana, was talking about her latest project, a movie called “The Invisible Woman.” It will be directed by Ralph Fiennes, and Jones will play the previously unknown mistress of Charles Dickens. Filming will start in April.

Dazzling affair

Sienna Miller showed off her baby bump, but wasn’t wearing an engagement ring, at Tuesday’s party at the Park Avenue Armory hosted by W magazine and P&G Prestige for a video installation, “The Ever-Changing Face of Beauty.” Two 50-foot-tall rotating screens of artwork designed by Solve Sundsbo dazzled 1,000 guests including Cate Blanchett, Evan Rachel Wood, Olivia Palermo, Daphne Guinness, Martha Stewart and pregnant Julia Restoin Roitfeld.

The Ever-Changing Face of Beauty

On Valentine’s Day, the fashion-forward flocked to the Park Avenue Armory to see photographer Solve Sundsbo’s video installation: “The Ever Changing Face of Beauty.” W. Magazine sponsored the event. Attendees included Sienna Miller, Cate Blanchett, Martha Stewart, Felicity Jones, Tory Burch and models Coco Rocha and Lara Stone.

Guests sipped champagne and nibbled on chocolate truffles and macaroons while gazing up at a video installation that featured two colossal figures walking toward each other at opposite ends of the cavernous space. It was a psychedelic blend of male and female body parts along with blooming roses and suggestive orchids, crows, snakes, tree branches and fire.

Lara Stone, one of the two models featured in the video, described the scale of the projection as “overwhelming.” “Maybe I should just go away and come back,” she said. “It’s all just absolutely amazing thanks to Solve’s imagination.”

Sundsbo conceived of the idea in September and shot it in two days back in November. He and a team of assistants have been working on it since then. He said the idea comes from the parlor game of mismatched drawings. In describing the two walking figures, he said: “There’s something quite romantic about it.” He picked the right day to premiere it.

Designer Tory Burch found time to relax after her own Valentine Day runway show at Lincoln Center earlier in the morning. In response to how she gets re-inspired after a show, she replied, “Inspiration is the easy part, it’s how you translate and make it into a collection that’s challenging.”

Martha Stewart milled around taking photos. She was still beaming from her dog, Ghenghis Khan recent Best of Breed win in the Chow Chow category at this year’s Westminster Kennel Club dog show. I joked with her about the lack of red in her Valentine’s Day outfit, to which she pointed to her oxblood shoes. Close enough. When asked what designers she gravitates toward to break out of the natural tones, she replied that she’ll wear one of Naeem Khan’s sequin dresses, or her gold Lanvin trench coat. She’s as partial to Hermes because it fits her long arms.

Big thanks to Luciana for the heads-up on this exciting new film rumour:

Sienna Miller and Brendan Fraser have joined the cast of the indie “A Case of You” starring Justin Long and Evan Rachel Wood.

The pic also stars Peter Dinklage, Keir O’Donnell and Busy Phillips with Kat Coiro on board to direct.

Story revolves around a young writer who tries to impress a girl he meets online with an embellished profile, but finds himself in a real mess when she falls for him and he has to keep up the act.

Long, O’Donnell and Long’s younger brother Christian have penned the script with Justin and O’Donnell producing along with Holly Wiersma, Logan Levy, and Jessie Kennedy. Cassian Elwes, Frank Levy, Britton Sanderford, Brice Sanderford, Christian Long, Jessica Neuman and Robert Barnum are exec producing.

Production is currently underway in New York.

Miller has been shooting the BBC America pic “The Girl.” Fraser has several films on his plate, including the indie “Gimme Shelter.”

Miller is repped by WME and United Agents and Fraser is repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment.

Sienna Miller & Brendan Fraser Join Justin Long Penned ‘A Case Of You’ With Evan Rachel Wood

It looks like Justin Long has been working his little book of phone numbers hard. The upcoming film “A Case Of You,” which he co-wrote, has already lined up an impressive cast with Evan Rachel Wood, Peter Dinklage, Sam Rockwell, Vince Vaughn, Busy Phillips and Keir O’Donnell (who also co-wrote the script along with Justin’s brother Chris, who is a co-producer) and now two more names have come along.

Sienna Miller and Brendan Fraser will lend their skills to the film, which will find Long playing a writer who embellishes his profile in order to meet a girl online, only to have to try to live up to the high standards he’s set for himself in real life when she begins to fall for him. It all sounds fairly standard, but with this cast involved, and with Long’s help getting the script together, we’re hoping it takes a new tack on the rom-com.

For both Miller and Fraser, it might seem like they’ve been out of the game for a while, but both have a plethora of projects on the horizon. For Miller, she’s got the dramedy “Hippie Hippie Shake,” Nick Cassavetes’ drug tale “Yellow,” “Two Jacks” and the Hitchcock biopic project “The Girl” (in which she plays Tippi Hedren) all coming. As for Fraser, he’s been knocking out a string of indie flicks including Terry George’s fish robbery thing “Whole Lotta Sole,” the Vanessa Hudgens drama “Gimme Shelter” and Mike Figgis’ “Seconds Of Pleasure.”

“A Case Of You” is currently in front of cameras, and while there is no release date, we wouldn’t be shocked to find this at Sundance next year.

Big thanks to Jessica M. and some of our Twitter followers for pointing out to me that Sienna has turned her talents to singing! She provides vocals on the new song ‘Hate & Love‘ by Italian-English artist Jack Savoretti. Apparently the song was featured on a recent episode of TV series The Vampire Diaries. I’ve been looking for more information on Sienna’s involvement in this, but am yet to find anything. I’d love to hear her talk about it! I’ll be sure to post any more information I come across.

The song is available to purchase on iTunes now, and you can listen to it below – what do you think of Sienna’s vocals?

Things are quiet in Sienna-world at the moment … at least, on the public side – I expect she’s quite busy away from the cameras with her impending arrival! I’m glad she’s getting some privacy. So to help you get your Sienna fix I have added a previously unseen photoshoot to our Gallery that I recently found, taken back in 2010 at the Dinard Film Festival. Sienna looks very natural, pretty and smiley in the photos, so go have a browse!
