Sienna Miller Online is a fan-run website dedicated to supporting and promoting the professional career of actress Sienna Miller. The site was started in August 2004 by Katy – like many of us, Katy first noticed Sienna after seeing her pictured in magazines with Jude Law. After learning she was an actress, Katy searched for Sienna online, but found no fansites. After reading old interviews and articles, Katy thought Sienna sounded like a a funny, down to earth girl, so decided to create a fansite online where others could find out more about Sienna. Soon after the opening, Katy purchased Sienna-Online.org for the site. A month after launching, Katy allowed me, Jess, to come on board, and we worked to build the site up and keep fans up-to-date on everything Sienna was doing. Maddie joined the site soon after, and ran a popular and very detailed Style sub-section of Sienna Online. During our first 2 years online, we organised a Birthday Book for Sienna filled with messages from her fans, and Sienna was gracious enough to write back to Katy each time saying ‘thank you’. As Sienna’s career took off in those first 2 years, the three of us had great fun following Sienna’s career and sharing our interest in Sienna with her growing fanbase. Much to our pleasure, a lot of other people enjoyed the site, and it became a credible and reliable source for the rising star.
The site got so popular in 2006, that we were using up too many server resources from our then-host. So the site then moved to the extremely-reliable fan-sites.org. With the site move came other changes though, and both Katy and Maddie soon dropped out of the site due to offline commitments. I, Jess, continued to run the site and enlisted the help of co-webs Nora, Jen and Celyn at various points since then. Sienna Online has hit some rough patches through the years though – in 2006 Sienna jokingly called a US city a slightly offensive name, and the backlash was extreme. Further backlash was felt in 2008 when Sienna embarked on some questionable behaviour in her personal life. Sienna Online was close to closing – a fact numerous media publications, both online and off, reported on. I decided to stick it out though, and keep the site going in the hope that Sienna would continue with her interesting career.
Now in 2010 Sienna Online is still here, albeit slightly weathered! Sienna is forging an interesting career for herself, and I am determined to keep supporting that through this site for as long as I can.
The Aims of Sienna Online
The primary aim of Sienna Online is to provide a source for fans of Sienna to read all about her, what’s she doing at the moment, view pictures of her and interact with other fans. We would also like this site to appeal to those who have a slight interest in Sienna and want to learn more about her. We want to provide a professional and reliable resource for information on Sienna’s career. Sienna Online is here to promote and support Sienna Miller and her career.
Some fans, including me, have expressed a lack of interest in the constant tabloid rumours and gossip surrounding Sienna and her personal life (who she’s dating, her partying etc.), therefore we now don’t post gossip – we want people to get past the image of Sienna that is portrayed in the tabloids, and focus on her professional career which we believe is much more important.
Why Sienna Miller?
Why did we want to make a site on Sienna Miller? At first we loved her style and her free-spiritedness, as well as her fiery performance in Alfie. But as her career has grown, I’ve come to really admire her choices in films and the career she’s building for herself. She could’ve cashed in on her fame and made endless romantic comedies or generic Hollywood movies, but she chooses to take a on a variety of roles. She often opts for smaller, independent movies with real characters, but isn’t afraid to try out big bidget action movies and fantasy movies, or working in theatre. Besides her career, we also love that Sienna really does just seem like one of us!
